About Almamater

THE CAMPAIGN FOR ALMA MATER ENDOWMENTS

The Campaign for Alma Mater Endowments is the foremost programme of the Educational Initiative for Development in Western Nigeria geared towards attracting critical financial and material resources of all and sundry in our society. Our approach is by strong advocacy to attract all and sundry through grassroot mobilization of rich and poor, professional and trade groups, Market Women and Men, Community Development Associations, Old Students and Alumni Associations to “Do Something” no matter how small for their Alma Mater and schools in their community. Our slogan for the Campaign became “Do Something!”

In summary, we adopted the Campaign for Alma Mater Endowments as a vehicle to change the future of the Education Sector. No doubt, providence has blessed us with millions across every walk of life and the world over, who have passed through the portals of these old schools over the years. The primary schools have suffered the greatest neglect as nearly all old students never looked back after leaving school.

However, We have untapped resources of every description beyond our imagination in the Old Students and Alumni if only we can organize ourselves better and insist on integrity and transparency to attract the needed support. This is the concept behind the Campaign for Alma Mater Endowments. To ensure transparency and accountability, we have put in place a structure where all detailed transactions on grants, donations, payments and expenditures on any project undertaken will be published on our website and can be verified by all. Much energy of the campaign is directed at:

  • Awareness creation/mobilization;
  • Creation of convenient platforms for contributions by all segments of society- especially the informal, low-education sector; and
  • Representation and participation of these segments in the policy and administration structures of the Campaign.

WHAT WE HOPE TO ACHIEVE

  1. Complement Government effort in providing qualitative Education at the Schools, Senatorial, State and Zonal levels of the South West of Nigeria;
  2. Constantly remind members of their responsibility and loyalty to their Alma Mater;
  3. Inform members from time to time about the activities and development programmes of the schools;
  4. Foster unity, understanding and friendly co-operation among all alumni associations of schools irrespective of age, sex, creed, colour, religion or ethnicity;
  5. Cherish and protect all the traditions of all schools which the Association considers worthy of being preserved;
  6. Serve as a link between the past, the present and the future students of the school;
  7. Arrange lectures, seminars and symposia on matters of contemporary interest and publish the related proceedings as may be deemed expedient;
  8. Raise funds voluntarily and receive donations, gifts, grants and bequest from members and the general public for financing any of the above objectives and most especially to organize such fund-raising activities as may be decided upon at the Annual General Meeting;
  9. Establish a fund for the maintenance and promotion of scholarship at schools and to provide all necessary assistance in improving students’ ‘and teachers’ welfare in Schools in South Western Region of Nigeria; and
  10. Encourage the deepening of sentimental ties with Alma Mater with particular regard to contributing to the improvement of standards generally in the schools, such as:

  11. i. Rendering assistance as may be required by Schools from time to time;
    ii. Initiating and encouraging schemes and projects channeled towards the success of the Campaign for Alma Mater Endowments;
    iii. Establishing and co-operating with all branches of Campaign for Alma Mater Endowments; and
    iv. Coordinating the activities of all branches of all alumni in the Campaign for Alma mater Endowments.
